Organised in conjunction with Singapore Art Week 2021, this special exhibition brings together artworks by 5 celebrated artists from 3 generations. Their unique interpretations are expressions of their experiences and reflect their modern response toward today’s ever-changing society. In a recording produced in conjunction with this exhibition, the participating artists share about their understanding of creativity in the arts and share about their plans for the future.

Participating Artists

Lim Tze Peng
Famous for his coloured and abstract calligraphic creations, Mr Lim Tze Peng has been Singapore’s most iconic living artist for the past 10 years. A selection of his calligraphy creations and nostalgic paintings of Singapore would be on show at this exhibition

Goh Beng Kwan
As Singapore’s pre-eminent abstract artist, Goh Beng Kwan continues to challenge boundaries in his work, creating artworks in various mediums, such as paper pulp, water collages and batik. In 1989, he won the Cultural Medallion Award for his contributions in visual arts.

Terence Teo
Mr Terence Teo is well known for this unique interpretations of rainforests, water reflections and landscapes in the ink medium. His paintings have been exhibited at Jakarta, Hong Kong, Korea and Singapore. In 2014, he won the Asian Art Award at the Asia Invitation Art Exhibition held in Seoul, Korea.

Zhu Hong
Known for his passionate depictions of street scenes in Singapore with both the watercolour and oil mediums, Zhu Hong has been gaining much attention amongst art lovers. “The Unique 5” would showcase his new paintings of scenes of Chinatown.

Liu Xuan Qi
In 2012, Liu Xuan Qi was conferred the platinum award at the UOB painting of the year competition. His artworks which revolve around intricately painted lions which are a symbol of culture and identity contrast with the symbol of the cloud which represent modernity have intrigued many art enthusiasts.
